Stimulus Bill Falls Short of Timely, Targeted, and Temporary

I am very proud of my Senator voting against the Stimulus Package. Unfortunately my Governor is accepting the funds and he calls himself a Conservaztive Republican - Not!!

February 13, 2009 - WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL)
Today issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Investment Act of 2009.

"When President Obama proposed the idea of an economic stimulus bill, he talked about a timely, targeted, and temporary spending package. The product we voted on today fails to spend enough in a timely fashion, it lacks the housing and foreclosure assistance Florida needs, and it puts too little focus on projects that will result in job creation."
