Would you pay for a "Baby Free Zone" on an Airline?
Don’t get me wrong now, I have 3 Children and am blesed with Two Grandchildren as well both under 2 years of age, but I think a “Baby Free Zone” is a great idea, not everyone loves kids or has kids for that matter.
Unfortunately for the Airlines, it could become a huge PR issue if they chose to do something like this, as told in a recent article on CBC.ca. However, I do find it strange that it has always been acceptable to people to pay for "First Class" to keep themselves away from the "Second Class" passengers. Now the "First Class" would beg to differ that they do not fly "First Class" to stay away from other passengers but they fly "First Class" to get the superior service and additional space, and I agree, most of them do.
Please understand that if I could afford to fly "First Class", I absolutely would, and I don't begrudge those that can afford to do so, trust me, no “wealth envy” here. I look at it this way, because they paid so much, it often times allows people like me on a strict budgetto pay, so little, so why would I complain.
So, I have to ask, what would it be wrong to allow someone to pay for a "Baby/Toddler free" section? As I see it from a marketing aspect, the airlines could actually cash in on this idea cater to these families of the Babies and Toddlers by providing them with their own section. They could offer them special games, movies, food, etc.... Some of things could be included and some of these things could be “up-sell” items.
I think that in this day and time with everyone looking for more “bang for the buck” that this could be used positively, rather than portrayed negatively and biased.
Once again, I guess you just have to be on the outside looking in.
